The Champions League league phase delivered a goal-laden midweek, with 70 goals across 18 finished matches on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November 2026. Como produced the round's biggest win, Paris Saint-Germain scored six away from home, and Real Madrid needed a stoppage-time winner in Athens. Seventeen matches produced a winner; the only draw was goalless.

Storylines of the round

Como won 9–1 at Lens. Anastasios Douvikas claimed a hat-trick. Douvikas opened the scoring after seven minutes, added a second in the 32nd minute and completed his treble in the 57th. Nico Paz (40'), Lucas Da Cunha (47'), Marc-Oliver Kempf (53'), Mattia Liberali (62'), Martin Baturina (69') and Matteo Papaccioli (90'+1') also scored for the visitors, with Ruben Aguilar's 65th-minute goal the only reply from Lens.

Paris Saint-Germain hit six at Villarreal. The French champions were four goals up inside the first 17 minutes in Spain on Tuesday. João Neves opened the scoring in the 9th minute, Désiré Doué followed three minutes later, Senny Mayulu made it three in the 13th and Fabián Ruiz added a fourth in the 17th. Ruiz scored again in the 50th minute and David Boly completed the 6–0 win in the 78th. Five players shared the six goals, with Ruiz the only one to score twice, and Villarreal never found a reply.

Real Madrid left it late at AEK Athens. Wednesday's game in Athens swung back and forth before Federico Valverde settled it in stoppage time. Aboubakary Koita put AEK Athens ahead in the 12th minute and Jude Bellingham levelled in the 32nd. Stavros Pilios restored the home lead in the 75th minute, Kylian Mbappé equalised three minutes later, and Valverde struck in the second minute of stoppage time to complete a 3–2 win for Real Madrid.

Fenerbahce came from behind twice to beat Liverpool. The other Wednesday game produced a second comeback win. Trey Nyoni put Liverpool ahead in the 25th minute, Mason Greenwood levelled in the 29th, and Alexander Isak restored Liverpool's lead in the 69th. Archie Brown equalised in the 73rd minute and Vedat Muriqi scored the winner in the 79th, giving Fenerbahce a 3–2 victory.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich won comfortably on Tuesday. Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3–0 at home, with Lamine Yamal opening the scoring in the 7th minute and Raphinha adding two more in the 52nd and 64th minutes. Bayern Munich won 2–0 at Atlético Madrid, where Lennart Karl broke the deadlock in the 54th minute and Konrad Laimer sealed the win in the 74th. Neither winning side conceded, and both results were settled without the late drama seen elsewhere in the round.

Manchester United and Manchester City both won from behind. Manchester United trailed AS Roma 2–0 at home on Tuesday after Matías Soulè scored in the 11th minute and Donyell Malen converted a penalty in the 17th. Bruno Fernandes pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 58th minute, and Matheus Cunha scored twice late on (83', 86') to complete a 3–2 win. A day later, Manchester City won 3–2 at RB Leipzig: an own goal from Castello Lukeba put City ahead in the 37th minute, Ridle Baku (49') and Antonio Nusa (61') levelled either side of Enzo Fernández's goal (58'), and Erling Haaland scored the winner in the 78th.

Porto, Internazionale and LASK all won big. FC Porto beat Napoli 4–1 on Wednesday: Jan Bednarek scored the opener in the 11th minute, Scott McTominay levelled for Napoli in the 43rd, and Gabri Veiga (70'), Jakub Kiwior (80') and a Samu Aghehowa penalty (90') settled it. Internazionale won 3–0 at Feyenoord Rotterdam on Tuesday through Yann Bisseck (8'), Pio Esposito (34') and Piotr Zielinski (54'). LASK Linz beat Slovan Bratislava 4–0, with Kasper Jørgensen scoring twice (19', 37'), Robert Ljubicic adding a third (44') and Samuel Adeniran completing the scoring (48'). Galatasaray also won well on Tuesday, beating VfB Stuttgart 2–0 with two early goals from Alexey Batrakov (12', 15').

The tight games still found winners. Borussia Dortmund edged Real Betis 2–1 on Wednesday: Fábio Silva put Dortmund ahead in the 49th minute, Aitor Ruibal levelled for Betis in the 67th, and Konstantinos Karetsas won it in the 72nd. Arsenal won 2–1 at Slavia Prague through Noni Madueke (9') and Viktor Gyökeres (38'), before Wiktor Nowak pulled one back in the 90th minute. Club Brugge won 2–1 at PSV Eindhoven, where Nicolo Tresoldi (25') and Carlos Forbs (65') scored either side of Kodai Sano's equaliser (54'). Viking FK beat Sabah FK 4–1, with Erik Botheim scoring twice (27', 90'+4') alongside Zlatko Tripic (69') and Henrik Falchener (81'), after Orphé M'Bina had put the visitors ahead (11'). Sporting CP won 1–0 at Shakhtar Donetsk through Issa Doumbia (59'), while Bodo/Glimt and Lille drew 0–0.

What it means

The headline results change the feel of the league phase without settling anything on their own. Como's nine-goal win and Paris Saint-Germain's six-goal away win are the kind of results that can shape a campaign, while the late winners for Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City kept three more big clubs moving in the right direction. The next matchday will test whether the free-scoring sides can repeat the trick against opponents who will now be wary, and whether the comeback winners can carry their late momentum forward.
